B-R committee cuts athletic fees to $495 per sport
School Committee · Meeting of June 10, 2026
RAYNHAM — Bridgewater-Raynham cuts athletic fees to $495 after enrollment drop. The regional School Committee voted 7-1 to lower the per-athlete, per-sport fee from $600 to $495 for 2026-27, a 17.5 percent cut, after the higher fee and the removal of a family cap drove participation from 382 athletes to 275. Budget subcommittee chair Ms.
King said the lower fee will cost about $45,000 in revenue if participation holds flat. Member DuPont, the lone dissenting vote, argued "we don't charge a student to take an extra English class" and pushed for ability-to-pay waivers; member Dan Guthrow countered that "there's no fifth grade music program in Raynham" getting the same scrutiny. The committee also moved $320,000 into reserve funds and approved Superintendent Powers' evaluation, 7-0 with one abstention.
