BR School Committee Approves Powers' 3-Year Contract
School Committee · Meeting of March 4, 2026
RAYNHAM — Bridgewater-Raynham School Committee signs superintendent to a new three-year deal, then votes to pause school choice. The committee unanimously approved Superintendent Roman Powers' contract through June 2029, starting at $215,000 with raises of 1 and 1.5 percent in years two and three. Negotiations chair Mrs.
Conrad-LaBaronto said the salary sits below the roughly $219,000 average among comparable districts. The committee also voted unanimously to withdraw from accepting new ninth-grade school choice students for 2026-2027, citing classrooms averaging 35 students. Bridgewater Town Manager Casanova Davis told the budget subcommittee the town faces an estimated $2.1 million deficit and can only support a 2.584 percent increase to the district assessment.
A high school junior told the committee "we should not have to choose between our education and our financial situations," citing fallout from last year's failed override. The committee also created a board-certified behavior analyst position and approved a capital-spending agreement with Bridgewater and Raynham.
